ABOUT

Lorraine Midanik's photo as a playwright.

Lorraine Midanik was born in Toronto, raised in Los Angeles and lives in the Bay Area.  After a career in academia, she became a playwright and studied with Anthony Clarvoe at Stagebridge. 

 

Recent productions include:  BRANDING (Little Fish Theatre, San Pedro, 2019); ORDINARY DAY (Valley Players, Napa Valley Performing Arts Center, 2018); CALL FORWARDING (PCSF Playoffs, 2018); Cycled (ReproRights: B8 Theatre, 2018; 3GirlsTheatre 2017); RECALCULATING (The Grateful Deadly, Playland Productions, 2018); SHOCK VALUE (PCSF Playoffs, 2017 - Nominated for Theatre Bay Area’s Best Anthology 2016); UP THE WALL ($wampland Voices, SF Fringe Festival, 2017); RECIPROCITY (Unknown Players, Cafe Stories, 2017); BENCHED (PCSF Playoffs, 2016 – Nominated for Theatre Bay Area’s Best Anthology 2016); BOY IMAGINED (ReproRights, 3Girls Theatre, 2016); FREEDOM OF SPEECH (PianoFight, 2016); and, SPARSE PUBIC HAIR (PCSF’s Sheherezade’s Last Tales Festival - Winner of the 2015 Theatre Bay Area’s Best Anthology).  JANUARY 23rd had a staged reading at B8 Theatre in July 2018.

 

Lorraine is a member of The Dramatists Guild, Playwrights' Center of San Francisco, Playwrights' Center (Minneapolis), Theatre Bay Area (2015 ATLAS Playwright), The International Centre for Women Playwrights, and the New Play Exchange.
